After a hard-fought battle, the Rams dropped a 63-51 decision to the Perris Panthers on the road Wednesday night, ending their season. The Panthers jumped out to a 12-point lead in the early-going, but Millikan battled back to bring it within three at halftime—the score could have been tied after the Rams nailed a buzzer-beater but were whistled for traveling.
In the third, they found their footing and wrestled a four-point lead, but the game was back and forth until about halfway through the final period, when the Panthers snatched a rebound away from Millikan’s main presence in the middle, Hilary Drinovsky—they went up by four, and held their lead through the end of the game (the point differential came from Perris sinking their free throws). Coach Lorene Morgan said Jaslyn Cosey and Ashley Mitchell both played solid games in their final games wearing the blue and gold.
Millikan ends their season at 24-4, but had a successful season given the graduation of star Courtney Clements and Kalena Tutt last spring—next season will be another rebuild, as the Rams lose Cosey, Mitchell, and post presence Candice Menefee, among others.
