Compton coach Tony Thomas wasn’t able to get much tape together on his Tarbabes’ opponent in the Division 2 CIF boys’ basketball semifinals, Burbank High.  So he and his team spent the last few days just working on overall team defense.  “I told them, whatever they do it won’t be something we haven’t seen, because we’ve already seen everything this year—that’s the benefit of playing a tough schedule,” he said.  Team defense ended up keying a huge Compton win, as they shut Burbank down, 71-48.

Anthony January led the Tarbabes with 15 points, while Cliff Sims had 13, and Allan Guei had 11.

Compton will face Murrieta Valley Saturday, March 6th in the Honda Center, for the Division 2 CIF championship.  The time will be released on Monday, and of course we’ll let you know.
