For the first time, the historic power Wilson Bruins boys’ water polo team has been competing in CIF’s Division 2 this season.  And, this week, they’ve done their best to argue against that demotion, with upset wins over Division 1 no. 8 Los Al and, on Saturday, no. 9 Harvard-Westlake, winning 9-7.

The Bruins were losing after three before mounting a comeback in the fourth to take the win.  For Harvard-Westlake, it was likely a painful reminder of the mid-90s to the mid-2000s, when it seemed like they lost to the Bruins in the playoffs nearly every year.  It was also an interesting battle with Wilson players facing off against Robert Lynn, a Shore Aquatics club coach who’d tutored many of the Bruins–Lynn is in his first year coaching Harvard-Westlake. Wilson improves to 7-4 on the season.
