Looking to improve to 3-1-2, the Cabrillo Jaguars hosted the Lakewood Lancers on Friday in the last game of the first round of league play—they went on to win 2-0, dropping the Lancers to 1-4-1 and positioning themselves for a playoff run.  The Lancers were held shotless in the first half, while Cabrillo let off ten, failing to score.  Ten minutes into the second half, Marco Ramirez took a give-and-go pass from Miguel Hernandez in the box and chipped it in—ten minutes later, after Lakewood’s first shot of the game, the Cabrillo keeper launched the ball.  It bounced over the Lancers’ sweeper, and Miguel Hernandez scored off the one-on-one opportunity.

The Jags outshot the Lancers 16-3—”I wish we could have scored more [with that many shots], but I’m happy with the win,” said Jags coach Pat Noyes.
