The last-millisecond Poly/Millikan game wasn’t the only tight contest of Monday evening, as the Wilson Bruins just managed to squeak by the Cabrillo Jaguars, 49-48.  The game was knotted at ten after the first quarter, and the Bruins had opened up a seven-point lead at halftime.  But as we’ve seen them do before, they had trouble scoring in the third, putting up just five points to the Jags’ 17–they won the fourth quarter 16-11 to maintain their upward momentum (they’re now 6-3 while the Jags fall to 0-7).

Leaders for Wilson were Mike Wilder, with 12, and Andre Crenshaw had ten.  “It was a hard-fought battle to overcome some poor shooting on our part,” said Wilson coach Matt Michelson after the game, “but we were able to get out of there with a win.”
