Junior RHP Jordan Wilcox made his first start of the year…and it doubled as his first finish, as he tossed a complete game 9-3 win versus Mira Costa.  Wilcox was 6-5 in a fine 2009 campaign, and he made the best of his 17th birthday by scattering five hits and striking out six on Saturday.  Down 3-0 after the first inning, the ‘Rabbits scratched closer with a two-out, 2-RBI single by Tyler Maxwell in the top of the third.  Then the Jackrabbits exploded for six runs in the fourth.

Junior outfielder Tyler Maxwell paced the attack with two hits and three RBIs.  Senior catcher Nikko Santos anchored the offense with two hits, including an RBI and a double.  Outfielders Jeff Turley and Daniel Cook chipped in two hits apiece.  Terrell Kimbrough got a pinch-double to knock in run in the seventh.

Poly moves to 1-1 on the season.  They will travel to San Pedro on Monday to battle the Pirates at 3:15pm.  Freshman phenom, Chris “C.C.” Castellanos will get the start for the Jackrabbits.  Castellanos pitched four scoreless innings of relief versus Torrance on Opening Day.
