None of the coaches who told us before the league season started that Cabrillo was tough were lying—Poly found that out in a narrow 1-0 squeaker win over the Jaguars, in which they were forced to bring Mario Gordon out to finish the game. Sophomore Jordan Wilcox started and threw six before Gordon came out for the save—Poly’s lone run came off a Henry Severson single RBI in the third inning. Junior Ramiro Rosalez went the distance for the Jags, giving up just four hits and the earned run.
Poly now moves into second place at 4-2, while Cabrillo falls to 1-5 with their second narrow loss in as many league games. Stay tuned for more as we enter the second round of league play on Friday!
