A 4-3 Lancers win over San Clemente will put them in the Loara Tournament championship game Saturday night at 7pm, at Glover Field; they’ll play the winner of El Toro v. Cypress. The win came thanks to a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Before the fun started in the seventh, however, the Tritons scored a run in the first inning to take an early lead. The Lancers answered right back after freshman J.P. Crawford (2-3 2R, 2RBI) walked and was sac bunted to 2nd. Jeff Yamaguchi (1-3 RBI) then singled him in to tie the game. The score was knotted at 1 a piece, until the top of the 7th inning, when San Clemente scored 2 runs to take a 3-1 lead.
Zachariah Alofaituli led off the Lancer 7th with a sharp single to right, which was followed by a Jacob Worrell single. Joseph Bernal sac bunted the runners into scoring position. Crawford came to the plate and laced a single through the left side of the infield to drive in two runs and tie the game. While Tyler Schultz worked the count to 1-2, Crawford stole 2nd and reached 3rd on a wild pitch. Schultz hit the 4th pitch into left field driving in the winning run. Yamaguchi pitched a magnificent 6+ innings allowing only 4 hits and striking out 3.
Also recording hits were Anthony Razo and Tyler Leidholt.
