The Lakewood Lancers kept their loss column clean on Tuesday, winning both games of a road doubleheader against Paramount by big margins, 10-3 and 11-1.  Lakewood improves to 7-0 and will face La Mirada in a doubleheader on the road Thursday.

First game:

Lakewood continued their hot hitting by scoring 5 quick runs to start the first game against Paramount. J.P. Crawford (2-4 2B, 2R, RBI) led off with a single. After a walk to Tyler Schultz and Hunter Jones (1-2 HR, 2R, RBI) getting hit by a pitch to load the bases, Jeff Yamaguchi (1-4 2B, R, 2RBI) hit a double that scored 2 runs. Anthony Razo (2-3 2B, HR, 3R, 3RBI) followed with a double that drove in another 2 runs. Zachariah Alofaituli (1-3 3B, RBI) tripled to give the Lancers a five-run first. Lakewood would score 5 more times, once on a homerun by Jones that cleared the left field fence, and an inside the park homerun by Razo.

Nick Sanchez pitched 5 innings, allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits, 1 strikeout and 3 walks. Nick Torres pitched a scoreless 6th and 7th and struck out 3 Pirates.

Second game:

In the nightcap, the Lancers didn’t start as fast, but the result was the same. The score remained 1-1 through 3 innings. In the fourth, Jones (1-3 HR, 2R, RBI) hit his 2nd homerun of the day, this one to the deepest part of the ballpark. After singes by Yamaguchi (4-4 3R, RBI) and Razo (2-3 2B, 2R, 2RBI) and a walk to Leidholt to load the bases, Jacob Worrell (2-2 HR, R, RBI) hit a single that scored 1 run. James Gosano (1-3 RBI) promptly singled in a run and Joseph Bernal hit a sac fly to score another. The Lancers sent 10 batters to the plate in the 5th inning and scored 5 more times. The big hit was a Worrell homerun over the left field fence.

In all Lakewood had 10 hits and 11 runs. Nick Buska got his first start and pitched into the 4th before he had to leave the game. He only allowed 1 run on 1 hit and walked 1 Pirate. Darren Gidley took over for Buska allowed 1 hit and walked 3 Pirates. Gidley didn’t allow a runner to reach 2nd in his 3 2/3 innings of work.
