La Mirada must be sick of the Moore League at this point, having served as the league’s punching bag in four games this season; Wilson added to the pain of three losses to Lakewood with a 12-1 win at home over the Matadores. La Mirada went 0-4 against the league, with a combined score of 41-4.
The Bruins posted four runs in the first and never looked back, as they improved to 6-2 prior to the start of league play. Cody Harris got things started with a 2 RBI single, after Blake Cooper had scored on a wild pitch. Myles Mendez, Daniel DeWolf and Chris Hubbard also had two RBI’s on the day. Chase DeJong pitched five strong innings to earn the win. Ty Provencher and Kyle Ritter continued their dominance in relief by tossing shutout innings.
Wilson will play their next game at Blair Field at 6:30pm against undefeated Lakewood—this is our first GAME OF THE WEEK for the baseball season, and you should get out to Blair! Both teams are hosting a huge alumni game, and a crowd of 1,000+ is expected for a great start to the year.
