It was a heck of a lot closer than Monday’s 11-1 loss, but a shaky defense cost the Fleet another game on Tuesday as they committed four errors, losing 4-3 to Edmonton. Their record falls to 9-9.ar
Keith Ramsey started for the Armada, and had a good outing despite the errors. Long Beach jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the 3rd with some aggressive base running. Josh Womack stole 2nd and Steve Young scored from third on a throwing error by Edmonton catcher John Pasieka. Omar Bramasco continued his hot hitting and singled to drive in Womack to give the Armada the 2-0 lead.
But more defensive miscues cost Long Beach the game once again. The Capitals scored three runs in the 5th inning on three hits and two errors. The Fleet would go on to commit two more errors in the game. Edmonton scored once more in the 6th inning and held on to win the game. This was the 5th straight game with at least one error for the Fleet.
Jose Lima will take the mound for the Armada Wednesday to try to prevent the three-game sweep at the hands of the Edmonton Capitals. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
