The Long Beach Armada kicks off its August home schedule as the Golden Baseball League regular season reaches the stretch run. Friday’s game (Aug. 14) begins a 6-game home stand presented by local VONS/Pavilions stores with great promotions throughout the week. Make sure to get out to the ballpark and support the Armada as the team pushes for a league-record fourth playoff appearance. The Long Beach Armada (29-31, 9-13 second half) takes on the Yuma Scorpions (23-40, 13-13 second half) in a three game series at Blair Field. The Armada faces the Scorpions at home for the fourth series between the teams in Long Beach this season. Long Beach has had three days off this week after snapping a four-game losing streak on Monday with a 12-2 win over the St. George RoadRunners. The team currently finds itself five games out of first place in the South Division standings with 16 games remaining in the 2009 regular season. Long Beach leads the season series against the Scorpions, 9-4, including a 6-4 mark against Yuma at Blair Field this season. Long Beach leads the all-time series, 34-29.
