Senior outside hitter Naomi Washington was named first-team All-Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the second consecutive year after another outstanding campaign. Sophomore Caitlin Ledoux was also recognized as an honorable mention selection.

Washington led Long Beach State with 464 kills in 2009, averaging 4.14 per set, a pace that was third in the Big West. She hit .269 over the year and was the leading offensive threat for the Big West Champion 49ers. Ledoux was just behind Washington with 415 kills and a 3.58 kill per set average, sixth in the Big West. She also added 318 digs and 22 aces over the season for the 49ers.

The AVCA splits all Division I schools into eight regions, with Long Beach State as part of the West Region, along with the rest of the Big West, Mountain West and Western Athletic conferences. 14 players earn first-team All-Region honors, while six players receive an honorable mention.

First-team All-Region selections remain eligible to be named All-America, consisting of 14 first, second and third team members along with honorable mentions. That announcement will be made by the AVCA on Wednesday, December 16.
