The rolling Wilson High water polo team ran into a wall yesterday against Los Alamitos, falling by an 11-9 score at the Belmont Plaza pool in Long Beach.

The Bruins tacked on a flurry of four goals in the fourth quarter, but their furious rally fell short. Junior Erik Vogelzang led the way with five goals and Brandon D’Sa tacked on two more for Wilson, ranked #2 in the most recent CIF Division 2 poll. Los Alamitos came into the game ranked #6 in the Divison 1 poll.

Los Alamitos senior goalkeeper Andrew Patterson notched twelve saves to anchor a stingy Griffin defense, while sophomore Chandler Jarrels and senior Joe Ferreti led a balanced offensive attack with three goals each.

The Bruins next face Servite (#10 in Divison 1) tomorrow at 3:15pm at the Belmont Pool.
