Over the course of their current season, we’ve brought you updates (click here) about the hometown California Quake’s progress as they marched toward an undefeated season and – hopefully – a national championship.  It is with a bittersweet taste that I bring you this next update:

The Quake have finished their regular season with an undefeated record and are the Pacific Southwest Division champions of the Independent Women’s Football League!

The catch is that now, the playoffs begin, and the team must send itself to Dallas, TX for their first-round game.  If they move on, they’ll go to Seattle, and finally to the National Championship in Chicago.  Each trip costs $10,000 and is paid for entirely out of pocket by the players because, like any athlete in their situation would, they want to win.

Quake president and friend of LBPOSTSports.com Catherine Vivo contacted us with a letter explaining the process, and the very real possibility of forfeiting their perfect season if they cannot come up with the necessary funds – a frightening scenario.

These women have battled in smothering heat and traveled across the nation to achieve what they’ve done.  If you can help them continue their dreams, please go to CaliforniaQuakeFootball.com or leave a comment and we’ll put you in touch with Catherine.

Go Quake!
