If it seems like we’re posting these a lot, it’s probably because…well, we are.  But what can we say, everybody’s talking about Long Beach athletes this week.  Are our ears burning?

Today, we bring you a link from 5^th District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske’s blog (what, you didn’t know city councilpeople could blog?).  In the entry, she talks about seeing LB native Billie Jean King speak at the recent Governor’s Women’s Conference.  In her acceptance speech for the Minerva award (in Greece it’s the Athena award), King talked about how Long Beach helped launch her career, the city’s parks, and her Poly Pride.  If you think that’s pretty awesome—you’re right.
