The Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team rolled to a three-game sweep at Grossmont College on Wednesday in both teams’ season opener. The Vikings (1-0) won the non-conference match over Grossmont (0-1) by scores of 30-23, 30-24, and 30-25.
Sophomore Antwain Aguillard led LBCC with 12 kills, nine blocks, and nine digs. Sophomore Casey Bennett added 11 kills and two blocks while sophomore setter Chuck Chamberlain posted 31 assists and two blocks.
“It was a good way to get the season started,” said LBCC head coach Randy Totorp. “Our sophomores really played well today and showed leadership out on the court.”
Long Beach returns to action this Saturday (Jan. 31) when it hosts the LBCC Tournament. Pool-play begins at 9am.
