With a 3-0 win over the Lakewood Lancers, Millikan improves to 7-0-1 in league play, the Moore League’s only unbeaten team. With their overall record improving to 20-2-2, it’s also the fifth year in a row that the Rams have won twenty games—mathematically, they’re now guaranteed a spot in the CIF playoffs. A few more wins will guarantee a league title.
The difference-maker came early, in just the fifth minute, when Manuel Espinoza scored; teammates Nelson Preciado and Edgar Melendrez would add to the total in the ninth and 54th minute. Millikan coach Rod Petkovic was pleased with his team posting another shutout (their sixth in eight league contests). “That was great—we pushed the ball around well today. It wasn’t as intense as the Cabrillo game, but we played well and did what we had to do.” The Rams will visit Poly next; the Lancers fall to 2-5-1 in league.
