No. 51 Long Beach State moved one step closer to the end of the season, falling 4-3 on the road to rival and constant antagonist, No. 44 Pepperdine.

Long Beach State, without the services of 17-3 Anais Dallara, who sustained a nonserious pre-match injury, rebounded to start the day by taking the doubles point, as Deborah Armstrong and Lisa Sutton won at No. 2, and Rachel Manasse and Julie Luzar, teaming for just the third time all season defeated Rice/Petrova to take the point.

Just the opposite happened in singles as Long Beach State lost four of six matches. #100 Hannah Grady bested Anamika Bahrgava 6-4, 6-4, and Jessica Weeks won her third singles dual match of the year and first in months, taking Danielle Thomasma 6-3, 6-3. The 49ers lost the other four matches, with the toughest loss coming at No. 3, where Deborah Armstrong and Alex Liles went three sets before Liles clinched the win.

Long Beach State finishes the regular season tomorrow, facing LMU on the road at 1:30 p.m.
