Update: Got some cool news–thanks to this article, they’ve located the championship trophy, as well as seven players from this roster (not sure who).  Please, take another look at the list and see if you recognize anyone!  Shoot me or Ken Jakemer an email if you know where a player or coach is so we can try and get a great reunion together for these LB World Champs!

Our good friend Ken Jakemer over at Long Beach PONY has sent out a distress call, and we’re hoping our readers can help him out.  Last year, Ken and the 2008 East LB PONY All-Stars won a World Championship—right now, PONY headquarters needs help locating the members of LB’s first World Championship team so they can throw them a 50-year anniversary party.  Unfortunately, time is running short and they haven’t been able to locate any of the players from the 1959 World Champs.

So, if you are any of the following people, or if they’re your dad or even grampa, please shoot Ken an email at webmaster@longbeachpony.org so we can make sure these Long Beach legends are honored proper!

They’re looking for the following champions: Richard Hayes, Jr; Armando Hernandez; Chandler Simonds, Jr; Gary Christopherson; John McClelland; Steven Horvath; Michael Caldarella; Frank “Mike” Martin; Dennis Yoken; Kenneth Hommer; Richard Severson; Charles Frederick Williamson; Marvin Zolna; Frank Aldrich III; John Wells.  And if they’re still out there, manager Buck Arnold or coach Lawrence Yockey.

If you know any of these men, or their whereabouts, please let Ken Jakemer know at webmaster@longbeachpony.org. Time is running short, so please hurry!
