Well, hand it to the prep football folks at the L.A. Times—this is a pretty gutsy preseason football rankings.  With Poly starting a lot of young, unknown players, the Times chose to side with history (and two consecutive CIF titles) and put the Jackrabbits on top, over a number of more widely heralded teams.  Oaks Christian is predictably high, and Lakewood sits right up there in the third spot.  Our own JJ Fiddler, a Chaparral alum, will be happy to see his Chappies crack the top ten for the first time in school history.

Also, local football fans take note—if you’re following Moore League football on LBPOSTsports.com, you’re going to get a chance to see seven of the area’s top 11 teams.  Obviously we’ll cover Poly and Lakewood, but Jordan plays Oaks Christian (no. 2), Poly plays St. Bonny (no. 4) and Servite (no. 10), Lakewood plays Crenshaw (no. 9), and Wilson plays Edison (no. 11) and Los Al (no. 17).  Coming up first, Poly/Servite is this Thursday, and Lakewood/Crenshaw the night after—as with all these premier matchups, come here for full coverage, and video highlights!
