The Dana Hills Invitational was held over the weekend, and three local teams were at the meet, with Lakewood’s girls, and Millikan and Wilson’s programs all running.

Lakewood

The Lancers had the day’s most impressive finish, with Kirstyn Nold taking the top finish for Div. 1 freshman girls—she placed first with a time of 18:08.8.  Nold was the only girls’ runner in the top-30 on the day, but she was also the city’s highest scorer.  David Pleitiz took 11th in the sophomore boys’ race.  Anthony Perry came in 21st in the junior race.

Wilson

The Bruins were the highest team finisher from Long Beach, coming in 7th (out of 26 Div. 1 teams).  For the boys, freshman Max Lindberg and Joe Burke finished in 3rd and 6th in the day’s first race, with times of 16:22 and 16:34 respectively.  Tyler Sanches took 26th in the sophomore race; Gustavo Plasencia finished 6th in the junior boys’ race, and Andrew Godsil took 8th in the senior race to help seal the Bruins’ team finish.

For the Bruins girls, Julia Welsch took 14th in the freshman race, and Wilson had three top-20 finishers in the sophomore race: Anna Hernandez, Emily Welsch, and Brittany Lowe (11th, 15th, and 18th).  The Bruins showed depth in the junior race as well, with Haley Kirk coming in 11th and Alex Grageda coming in 13th.

Millikan

The Rams’ Paisley Pettway continued to show her strength, with a third-overall finish in the girls’ senior race, with a time of 18:22.  The other girls high finish was Kassandra Delgado, who took 19th in the junior race.  For the boys, Pablo Cardenas took 17th in the sophomore race, and Zach Ellis finished 28th in the senior race with a sub-16 time of 15:59.1.
