The Wilson Bruins (no. 3 in D2 CIF) have their eyes set on a title far beyond the one bestowed on the winner of the Harry J. Moore League—but that doesn’t mean they’re overlooking the competition, as they were focused and in control against Poly in the league opener on Thursday at Belmont. The Bruins took a 7-4 lead in the first quarter and never led by less than that, going on to win 15-10.
Wilson’s leaders led, as they got four goals each from Tyler Kennedy and Derek Smith, and three goals apiece from Michael LaBounty and Erik Vogelzang.
The Bruins will spend the weekend at the prestigious 16th Annual S&R Sport Water Polo Cup at UC Irvine, with 15 of the best teams in the state. Wilson will open play Friday morning at 10am, against Davis (from NorCal).
