The Long Beach City College men’s cross country team totaled 149 points to finish in sixth place out of seven teams at the South Coast Conference Championships on Saturday at Legg Lake Park in South El Monte.

With their showing, the Vikings also secured a spot in next week’s Southern California Regional Championships.

At the SCC finals, freshman Edwin Rodriguez led Long Beach with his 26th place finish. He cleared the four mile course with a time of 22:23. Freshman Javier Ramos joined him in the top 30 by taking 30th with a time of 22:33.

The 2009 Southern California Regional Championships are set for Friday (Nov. 6) at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. The women’s race is set for 10:30 am, followed by the men’s event at 11:30 am.
