In a complete defensive effort, Poly used pressure defense to knock off Bolingbrook (an Illinois powerhouse) in the first round of the Nike Tournament of Champions, 57-35.  The Jackrabbits were up by 18 at halftime and kept their foot on the pedal for the rest of the game.

“Their main guard—who’s really good—had about 19 points,” said Poly coach Carl Buggs.  “But we held the rest of the team in check.”  Given that the rest of the team had a combined 16 points, we’d have to agree.  All in all, an impressive performance over MaxPreps’ number 24 team in the nation (Poly is number two).

Next up for the Rabbits is Christ the King, who Buggs says is a very complete team, with a great post player and several guards who can shoot, so they’ll need another great defensive effort.  Christ the King beat Dillard 53-38 on Friday. We’ll have updates after the game, which is set to tip on Saturday at 6:30pm on Saturday.
