The Jackrabbits won their first three games—including one classic Poly comeback—to earn their way into Wednesday’s championship game at the Whataburger Tournament in Texas.

First on Monday they beat LD Bell (from Hurst, TX) 68-39, with Ryan Anderson contributing 15 points and Shelton Boykin chipping in 12.

That put them in a quarterfinal Tuesday against a very talented Austin Westlake team, that MaxPreps has ranked 11 nationally—sure enough the game turned into a classic.  Austin was up 51-38 after three quarters, but the Rabbits pulled that old Poly magic, outscoring them 29-15 in the fourth quarter to win the game, 67-66.  Long Beach State fans take note as well as Poly fans—Boykin clinched the game with three free throws, as Poly went on to win 67-66.  He had 12 points, Anderson had 24, Roschon Prince had 12, and Alexis Moore had 11.

The semifinal didn’t start until 10pm Texas time, as Poly beat a scrappy team from Irving, TX 58-46.

With the three straight, Poly stands at 11-2 heading into tonight’s championship game against Flower Mound, TX (who are 16-1 on the season). Tip is at 8:30pm, and we’ll let you know how the Rabbits did!
