If Compton’s boys’ basketball CIF quarterfinal tonight against Edison turns into a jumping match, the Tarbabes will be very happy—the Chargers team that will host them in Huntington Beach is small and fast, and scrappy if not as athletic as the Tarbabes. But they’re fundamentally sound too—Compton is the no. 7 seed, and Edison is the no. 2.
When the Tarbabes have excelled this year, it’s been on the backs of point guard Allan Guei, Cliff Sims, and Anthony January—they’ll need to step up if the Tarbabes want to push on into the next round. The talented trio will also need to stop a dynamic duo—Kyle Boswell and Dylan Garrity are everything to the Chargers, leading them in scoring (Boswell with 24 ppg and Garrity with 17), assists (Garrity has 5 per game), and steals. They’re both very good, dangerous scorers—the good news for Compton? They’re 6’2″ and 6’1″, respectively.
Here are directions to the game, at Edison, from the Pyramid for anyone interested in attending.
