Long Beach Poly has a world-class reputation when it comes to relay teams on the track. Thursday night at Carson High, a quintet of Jackrabbit pitchers passed each other the baton to complete a 7-inning no-hitter versus the Colts, winning 5-0.
In a non-league game sandwiched between two Moore League games (Cabrillo on Wednesday and Millikan on Friday), Bryan Sanchez, Trevor Kellogg, Tyler Maxwell, Jeff Turley, and Henry Severson share the credit for the victory in which only three batters reached base, two by walk, and one hit batsman. The offense notched 12 hits, including three hits by cleanup hitter, Thomas Walker and triples by Henry Severson and Jeff Turley. Severson was on the hill for the final out–a fly ball to rightfield which landed securely in the glove of sophomore, Hayden Hunt.
