The Long Beach State track and field team established two lifetime bests on its final day at the Mt. SAC Relays Friday afternoon.

Jessica Barnard led the LBSU women as she won her 800m heat in a personal-record 2:12.69. Barnard, who topped her previous best by over a minute, now ranks sixth on the 49er all-time charts.

Jennifer Rodriguez also established a lifetime-best and the ninth-fastest 1500m mark in school history as she clocked in at 4:33.78 to finish fifth in her heat and 26th overall.

In the men’s 1500m, Matt Maldonado placed ninth overall with a time of 3:48.27, while Raul Arcos registered a season-low 3:53.66.

Alex Freitas took eighth in Section 1 of the men’s 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 1 minute, 52.37 seconds.

Long Beach State returns to action on Saturday, April 17, when it hosts the Beach Invitational at Cerritos College. The field events are set to get underway at 9 a.m., while the track competition begins at 10 a.m.
