Ramiro Rosalez was back in a big way for the Jags, pitching a complete game with six strikeouts in a 5-1 win. After three and a half weeks out with a shoulder injury sustained against Millikan, Rosalez returned to the lineup thanks to strict adherence to his therapy schedule, and bullpen work.
Rosalez had a shutout through six innings, and almost kept it as leftfielder Armando Perez just missed a diving catch; instead it fell and scored Compton’s lone run. “It was good to have our captain back on the mount,” said Cabrillo coach Eric Byrant after the game. “When he’s on the mound we feel we have a good chance of winning every time he pitches.”
Perez was 2-2 with a run, a stolen base and an RBI, and Louie Terraas had 2 runs, two RBI, two BBs, and two stolen bases.
The two teams are now tied for fifth place at 2-6 in league.
