Long Beach State picked up a first-inning run as Steve Tinoco scored on a Joey Terdoslavich RBI triple, but UC Irvine scored six unanswered runs to defeat The Beach 6-1.

With two down in the first inning, Tinoco doubled down the right field line, and that was followed by a triple off the wall in center field by Terdoslavich to give the Dirtbags the lead 1-0 after Kenny Arnerich threw a scoreless first for Long Beach State.

The Dirtbags bats would be quieted from there on by Evan Brock, who threw eight innings and allowed four more hits while striking out eight. Long Beach State would get two runners on in the ninth, to chase Brock from the game, but Nick Hoover, after walking the bases full, was able to draw a ground-ball double play to end the game.

Offensively for UC Irvine, the Anteaters tied the game in the second inning with an unearned run, and in the third inning, picked up a pair with a sacrifice fly and a single from Drew Hillman. One more run would come across in the fourth inning, and after 3.2 innings of relief from Eddie Magallon, Casey Stevenson capped a career 5-for-5 day with a two run home run in the eighth inning to account for the final score.

Long Beach State concludes the season at 1 p.m. tomorrow against UC Irvine. Prior to the game, the team will recognize their five seniors, and the game is also the final game for head coach Mike Weathers, who will retire following nine seasons as the head coach of the Dirtbags.
