Norvin Dizadare, 33, and Emmanuel Walker, 35, both of Long Beach, were taken into custody separately for allegedly robbing and beating 32-year-old Steven Brown of Long Beach on May 17 just after 7 a.m. in the 600 block of Cerritos Avenue, according to information provided by Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
Police responded to the scene to assist Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, who were called to the scene to treat a man later identified as Brown, who had been found lying in a driveway unconscious with blood on his face. He was rushed to a local hospital and listed in extremely critical condition, Pratt said.
An initial investigation revealed that Brown was violently assaulted, resulting in homicide detectives being called to the scene, Pratt said.
While the scene was being processed, the detectives were led to a nearby residence, where they determined that the assault had occurred. They identified Walker as one of the two suspects responsible for the assault and took him into custody that same day, Pratt said.
Two days later on Friday, May 19, detectives arrested Dizadare for his participation in the assault, Pratt said.
It is believed that the two suspects assaulted and robbed Brown before dragging him away from the house to conceal their involvement. The victim and suspects knew each other, Pratt said, and all three had been at a social event prior to the assault, which detectives believe occurred as the result of a dispute.
Brown succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, May 21, and was pronounced dead at about 5 p.m., Pratt said, resulting in the two suspects being charged with murder, robbery and kidnapping. They are being held at the Long Beach City Jail.
