Two suspects have been arrested for their role in the March 24, 2011 Long Beach murder of 29-year old Phillip Victor Williamson of Los Angeles, with more arrests expected.
On March 24, 2011, at approximately 10:26 PM, Long Beach police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Pine Avenue, regarding a man being shot in the upper body. Upon arrival, they found Williamson, an L.A. resident, in critical condition and paramedics took him to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries.
He was not known to visit Long Beach often, but investigators learned that he was involved in the distribution of marijuana, acquired in Chico, to various medical marijuana collectives in the Los Angeles county area.
They have learned that he may have had several pounds of marijuana and up to $500,000 in cash in his possession at the time of his death, both of which have yet to be recovered. Detectives believed that he was killed for his supply of marijuana and money.
The detectives’ work, with the assistance of the media and the public, led them to married couple Rosemary Sayegh, 33, and Marcel Mackabee, 28, of Granada Hills. She was arrested on July 29, 2011 and he was arrested on July 30, 2011.
On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, who in turn has charged defendant Sayegh with one count of accessory to murder, and charged defendant Mackabee with one count of murder.
The investigation into Victim Williamson’s death remains ongoing and it is anticipated that additional arrests will be made. The $10,000 reward offered in this case by the Los Angeles County Supervisor’s Office has generated helpful information to the investigation, but detectives are still asking for the public’s help with information regarding this case.
