Two Metro Blue Line train riders were transported to the hospital after a woman driving a brown sedan collided with the train at 12:36PM today when she tried to execute a left turn on a Long Beach street, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputies on the scene said.

The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was driving eastbound on Third Street, a one-way street she was incorrectly traveling on, when she attempted to make a left turn on Long Beach Boulevard, deputies said. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said they were investigating the collision because it involved a Los Angeles County Metro train. 

“It was just really loud. It was like a loud impact and you hear the screeching of the tires,” said a Rainbow Juices worker who heard the nearby crash.

The woman was able to get out and walk away from her totaled Audi A-4, which was dragged about 30 to 35 feet by the train, authorities said.

The condition of the two riders are unknown, authorities said.

Authorities said 30 people were on the train, including the operator. There were no passengers riding with the driver.
