Two children, and a mentally disabled adult female were found in Sylmar following a disappearance this past Saturday night and Long Beach Police is asking for the public’s help in locating them.
On Saturday, June 9 at approximately 11:20pm, Long Beach Police responded to an apartment complex in the area of Santa Fe Avenue and Spring Street in regards to an adult female — whose condition was described as “mild mental retardation with the maturity level of an 8-year-old” — and two children — a female 8-year-old and a male 6-year-old — who had been missing for several hours. The three of them left the complex together with permission at approximately 4:45pm last night to walk to a fast food restaurant down the street. According to our investigation, the trio arrived at the restaurant at closing time, approximately 6:00pm, and were turned away, last seen walking northbound on Santa Fe Avenue.
The discovered trio were identified as follows:
- Marie Williams: 25-years-old, 5’5” and 170 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes; was last seen wearing a turquoise short sleeve shirt, jean capris and dark tennis shoes.
- Sarah White: 8-years-old, 4’0” and 45 pounds with braided hair and brown eyes; was last seen wearing a white short sleeve shirt, jeans, and pink/black “Heelys” (tennis shoes with wheels).
- Nicholas Sanders: 6-years-old, 4’0” and 50 pounds with short hair and brown eyes; he was last seen wearing a green/blue long sleeve button-down shirt, jeans, and black tennis shoes.
Marie Williams resides at the complex with a relative. Sarah White is from the Palmdale area and is in Long Beach with her mother visiting friends who reside at the same complex. Nicholas Sanders and his family also reside at the complex. There is no family relation between the three missing.
The family searched the area unsuccessfully before calling police. Long Beach Police actively searched for the missing through the night and eventually discovered the trio today in Sylmar.
