Thanksgiving is here, my second favorite holiday next to Christmas.  I enjoy it so much because it brings my whole family together and its hand down the best meal of the year.  We celebrate the holiday with about 25 family members at my mom’s place.

 

So I have been thinking about what I am thankful for this year….

 

Here’s my list-

 

1) Family & friends.  They are the best and I am lucky to have them.

 

2) My dog Anakin.  He has an amazing ability to make me stay home on a Friday night.

 

3) The new Loft.  I became a homeowner this year, and I couldn’t have picked a better neighborhood- Downtown Long Beach.

 

4) The faculty and students in my Doctoral program and the fact that I am finished with year one.  Two years and a dissertation to go.

 

5) My job.  Long Beach City College is a great place to work.  The people are even better.

 

6) The board and staff at Children Today.  Joining the board and assisting homeless children is an incredibly humbling and rewarding experience.

 

7) My neighbors in the Temple Lofts and in my neighborhood.  The North Pine Neighborhood is the best.

 

8) Geroge’s Greek Deli & Smooths Sports Grille.  My favorite two places to eat and hang out.

 

9) The staging-live.lbpost.com and all of the writers and team that put out a daily, 24 hour a day product.  Starting the post has been tremendous and it’s only going to get better.

 

10) The City of Long Beach.  For all of it’s flaws and challenges, it’s still the best place to live anywhere.  We are lucky to call it home.
