8:20am | Sixth district Long Beach Councilman Dee Andrews announced this morning that he has filed the necessary paperwork to seek a second term on the city council.

Councilman Andrews was elected in May 2007 to represent the 6th District during a special election due to the vacant seat left by Congresswoman Laura Richardson. Mr. Andrews, a 60-year resident of the Central area, has been a dedicated and successful council representative for the past 4 years.

“I really enjoy all the opportunities to work with residents and business owners in the 6th District area,” Councilman Andrews said in a prepared statement. “These past four years we have grown in so many ways. I have heard their concerns, worked with them to promote a safe environment and a higher standard of living. I now look forward to another term of representing these folks on the City Council, promoting job growth, safe neighborhoods and assuring fiscal prudence on budgetary matters,” Andrews continued.
