Signal Hill Mayor Larry Forester announced his endorsement Wednesday of Rosi Pedersen for Long Beach Unified School District School Board. Pedersen is running for LBUSD’s Fourth District, and was previously endorsed by Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe last week.
“The residents of Signal Hill deserve a strong voice on the Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education,” Forester stated. “Rosi will give us that voice.”
Forester said Pedersen can provide the support teachers need to effectively implement the new Common Core Standards in their classrooms. Pedersen has served as both a teacher and an administrator for over three decades.
“Rosi has proven her ability to create educational policies that meet the stated goals and return on investment,” Forester said in a statement. “Rosi understands this because she was a classroom teacher. She was a program administrator. And she is going to make a great school board member.”
“Mayor Forester, in his role as an elected official, has always been an equal partner and stakeholder in providing our local students with the educational tools they need to compete in today’s global economy,” Pedersen said in a statement. “His endorsement is a significant component of this grassroots campaign.”
