Police say they are investigating the death of a man and woman after finding their bodies Wednesday morning during a welfare check at a Seal Beach home.

Few details were immediately available about the circumstances of their deaths, but Seal Beach Police said they found the bodies at a home in the 600 block of Ocean Boulevard, just east of the San Gabriel River, after a relative living outside of California called police to say their brother had been “having issues with their elderly mother.”

Officers arrived just after 8:30 a.m. at the home, though they were unable to get in touch with anyone inside. After finding an unlocked door, the officers went inside the home and found the two bodies.

The two deceased people were elderly, according to authorities, who did not immediately release their exact ages. Police did not identify the pair nor did they say definitively whether they were related.

“This is an active investigation and I can not confirm or elaborate on any other details,” SBPD spokesperson Lt. Julia Clasby told the Long Beach Post.
