6:59pm | A speeding motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night in Belmont Shore after he collided with a truck, police said.

Keith Michael Thomas, 46, of Long Beach, was driving his 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle in a reckless manner near the intersection of Livingston Drive and Ximeno Avenue at roughly 10:53 p.m. July 6 when the bike collided with a 2004 GMC truck, said Nancy Pratt, a Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman.

Pratt said Thomas was traveling westbound on Livingston “at a high rate of speed while ‘popping wheelies’.” As he entered the intersection of Livingston and Ximeno, he struck the truck being driven by a 25-year-old Long Beach man who was heading north on Ximeno.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma, she said.

The accident occurred just blocks from the Long Beach Post office and resulted in the temporary closure of all three westbound traffic lanes on Livingston.

Both the driver of the truck and his 22-year-old female passenger received minor injuries during the accident and were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were treated and released, Pratt said.

The driver is not facing any charges because Thomas was determined to have been driving recklessly, she said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact LBPD Accident Investigations Detective Sirilo Garcia at 562-570-7355.
