The rail line that is being repaired runs north/south between Cherry and Paramount. Dotted lines mark Lakewood/Long Beach boundary.
From 6AM to 7PM on Wednesday, February 13, Del Amo Blvd. will be closed between Cherry Ave. and Paramount Blvd. so that the Union Pacific Railroad can conduct repair work on its tracks.
Though the closure is technically in and under the jursidiction of the City of Lakewood, it is right along the Long Beach border and has the potential to affect those traveling through that portion of Long Beach. Residents are encouraged to avoid these intersections if they can.
According to the City of Lakewood, local-only traffic will be allowed on residential streets that enter and exit Del Amo, but no traffic will be allowed to cross the train track, which runs north-south midway through the stretch.
It’s possible the construction work could be delayed to another day or take more than one day to complete. If so, residents can check www.lakewoodcity.org for any changes to the schedule. We will also post them here.
For any questions about the project, please call Lupe Valdez of Union Pacific Railroad at (626) 935-7617 or Lakewood customer service staff at (562) 866-9771, extension 2140
