Covering Long Beach, you come to expect the unexpected.  But even in a city as unpredictable as this, an article in Saturday’s Press-Telegram knocked me off my feet when it was brought to my attention yesterday.  Apparently, someone pulled out a gun during a Pine Avenue argument and fired two shots into the air.  Meanwhile, about a mile away, a 49-year old woman was sleeping outside on her deck – which she and her husband have done for about ten years – when she awoke to pain and blood coming from her forehead.  The P-T‘s Tracy Manzer explains:

The bullet, which may have come from a gun fired during a melee outside of a downtown night club, entered her forehead, glanced off her skull and exited through her eyebrow without causing any extensive damage, she said.

The woman survived and spoke to police when they arrived at the house, and was scrubbing the floor of a newly-rented apartment by the end of the day.
