For the first time in almost a decade, Long Beach will have a new city attorney elected this year.

Two candidates, former City Councilmember Gerrie Schipske and current Assistant City Attorney Dawn McIntosh, are vying for the position. Whoever wins will lead the office charged with advising the city of Long Beach on all legal matters.

On Tuesday, April 26, Schipske and McIntosh answered questions from the Long Beach Post’s managing editor and city hall reporter in the first of our debates leading up to the June 7 primary.
