This past Monday at approximately 2:10am, officers were dispatched to a parking lot in the 5500 block of East Spring Street regarding a stabbing that resulted in a man suffering serious injuries. When officers arrived at the scene, they located an adult male on the ground who had been stabbed multiple times in the lower body. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, and is now listed in stable condition.
The investigation revealed that a group of at least five men became involved in a verbal dispute in the parking lot that escalated into a physical altercation. During the altercation, one suspect produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim.
Two people connected to the incident, an adult male who sustained multiple non-life-threatening injuries, and a female, were arrested a short time later, and their role in the incident remains under investigation.
Due to the ongoing investigation, all three subjects — who are in their twenties — are not being identified.
A number of subjects may have witnessed the altercation but left the scene prior to the police arriving. Detectives are asking for them, and anyone with information regarding this investigation, to come forward. Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is urged to contact Long Beach Police Department Violent Crimes Detective Ben Vargas at (562) 570-7250.
