Tomorrow at 9:00am, the Long Beach Police and Fire Departments will pay tribute to members of their departments who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and the community is invited to attend.
Members of both departments, along with City dignitaries and staff, will honor those individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Long Beach community. The event will be held at the Police and Fire Memorial, which is located at the foot of Chestnut Avenue just south of Broadway in Long Beach.
The memorial service will include the Pledge of Allegiance, a posting of the colors presentation by Long Beach Police & Fire Honor Guard, an invocation, a tribute song, individual recognition of fallen officers and firefighters, a bagpiper who will perform Amazing Grace, a 21-Gun Salute, a bugler who will perform Taps, as well as remarks by Mayor Bob Foster, Police Chief Jim McDonnell and Interim Fire Chief Mike Sarjeant.
