A pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in serious condition tonight after being hit by a car, police said.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to a call in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Burnett at about 5:50PM regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian accident, said LBPD spokesman Bradley Johnson.

As a result of the accident, the victim was transported to a local hospital, and police shut down Long Beach Boulevard from Willow to Burnett while the accident was investigated.
