9:00am | Long Beach Councilmember Gary DeLong and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine held a grand opening of the new Mother’s Beach Restroom and Concession Building on Saturday.
“This facility will make Mother’s Beach an even more enjoyable place for our community to enjoy,” Councilmember DeLong said.
A new building features a concession area with a full cooking kitchen, as well as a new seating area. The restrooms include safe and family friendly individual stalls, including 10 single compartment unisex stalls, with two stalls incorporating handicapped accessible standards. A new accessible outdoor shower was constructed at the beachfront and walkways have been extended to provide an accessible route from the beach to the play area. The project also includes new drinking fountains and exterior lighting. The $850,000 project was funded with Tidelands funds.
