Riders of the Metro A line that runs through Long Beach can expect major delays in the coming hours after a man was struck and killed by a train in the Washington Station area near Downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
Paramedics responded around 7:40 a.m. to the area of 24th Street and Long Beach Avenue and found a person that had been struck by a train going southbound, authorities said. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
LA Metro tweeted around 9:13 a.m. that at least six bus shuttles would be replacing trains between Washington and Vernon Stations in the meantime. A spokesperson from the LA Metro office did not immediately respond to several requests for comment from the Post.
