A man was hospitalized early Sunday morning after he was shot in the Wrigley neighborhood, police said.

Long Beach police learned of the shooting while performing a traffic stop around 2:43 a.m. in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pine Avenue. A man who was a passenger told officers he had a gunshot wound to the lower body, police said.

The victim was apparently involved in a dispute with an unknown male suspect, resulting in the shooting, according to the LBPD.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the man to a local hospital, where he was treated for the non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to authorities.

No suspect information is available, but officers located evidence of a shooting, including a casing, in the area near the traffic stop, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
