A man was injured Wednesday afternoon when he was shot while driving along Willow Street in East Long Beach, according to police.
Officers were notified of the shooting just before 4 p.m. and responded to the 3800 block of Willow Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
There, they located a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body, police said. Long Beach Fire Department personnel also arrived at the scene to treat the man for his injuries, according to authorities.
According to police, the man was driving his vehicle westbound on Willow Street when he noticed the man driving behind him was pointing a gun at him, police said.
The suspect then began firing in the victim’s direction, police said, striking him.
No arrest was made, as the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction before officers arrived.
Police shut down westbound Willow Street from Bellflower Boulevard to Redondo Avenue for roughly an hour as they investigated the shooting.
